D.PROVIZOR x CRAFT & BLOOM.
A new collaboration with Craft & Bloom, a husband and wife creative studio run by Ofer and Emma. From the first moment we met, we knew we wanted to collaborate, we shared similar aesthetics, and there was an instant connection.
▶ The next step was to determine which product was right for us to develop and could also be relevant to others.
After walking in Ofer and Emma's vegetable garden, we noticed a big fermentation crock inside their house, capable of holding a large amount of vegetables. As a result, the idea of making a more modern and smaller fermentation crock for home use was born.
▶ The process of fermenting food is a traditional method for preserving and improving the taste and texture of foods. Historically, fermentation crocks have been here and used by many cultures throughout history. These include dishes like Eskimo fish soup and Korean kimchi.
Compared to a glass container, clay maintains a constant and low temperature, releases natural gases without needing to open the lid every day, and keeps a dark environment, which helps the process.
▶ Traditionally, such an object is made on the potter's wheel, so I had to figure out how to make it my way. Although challenging, the result exceeded my expectations.
▶ The fermentation crock is made using a rolling pin (of course), is true to the color of the clay, and comes with weights.
▶ One of my favorite projects, mostly because of the company and the challenge.
THE FERMENTATION CROCK IS NOW AVAILABLE AT CRAFT & BLOOM SHOP
